Dr Hilary Hughes is Associate Professor in the Faculty of Education, QUT where she teaches in the MEd(Teacher-Librarianship) program. Her specialist teaching and research areas include teacher-librarianship, learning space design, information literacy and informed learning, and international student experience. She applies the charrette (collaborative designing) approach in an MEd unit. Her publications include 2 recent articles about using the charrette in educational contexts and she is currently co-editing a book titled School learning spaces for student wellbeing.

Hilary has completed several funded research projects and is currently a chief investigator on a QUT-led ARC Linkage project that is investigating value for money in school procurement related to educational outcomes. In her teaching and research, Hilary draws on extensive previous experience as reference librarian and information literacy educator. In 2010, Hilary was Fulbright Scholar-in-Residence at Colorado University Denver. She has received several QUT learning and teaching awards.
